Antique lapis lazuli cameos gold earrings
Here we present an incredible nice antique pair of earrings in lapis lazuli very skilfully hand-carved in a Baccante head decorated with bunches of grapes and leaves ( they were the dancing followers of Bacchus during the Baccanale wine feasts ). Despite the hardness of the stone the Master Artist achieved a very realistic and detailed figure. Down there is an embossed gold motif. The lapis is from Afghanistan. The gold is 14K ( touchstone tested ). An old hallmark is on the hooks. Probably from Rome. End of 19th century. Please note the top quality blue color of the stones. They are in perfect condition.
